Hello blog !

During this project, we have been working digitally and exploring photoshop and how to use it. I have tried adobe illustrator in the workshop for the first time! Learning new techniques and tools for making patterns digitally was quite challenging at first understanding the steps, however, I was satisfied with the outcome of the patterns. We had four different types of designs made, and the colors were well put together and looked fantastic; I am thrilled learning those new skills and now have some knowledge of how to photoshop by myself and make different types of digital patterns 🙂 Overall I felt like I need more practice on digital work since I have never done it so it was a bit stressful going on the steps however I managed to complete it by the end of the session by Jing’s help.

Mark Making Workshop

This is our first week back from reading week; we started a new digital futures project. We will be exploring and experimenting with digital patterns. I am excited to learn new things. This week’s mark-making workshop was enjoyable I learned new skills and used many different objects to create cool patterns. I felt like it was a stress reliever once I started to scribble and really enjoyed nicole’s session. We have also looked at many amazing artists that use marking-making on the body. I will add below a documented video of the workshop; we used black on everything. I loved the outcomes I created, and by the end of the workshop, I made little drawing books to complete it.

Hey again!

I had a styling, studio session last week on my materials, models, mindset group project. I was looking forward for this session a lot and was very excited since my course is fashion image and styling and being in the studio is very enjoying for me. I have looked at how the cameras work, the different lighting, and colors, and experimented with many different new helpful skills.

I loved taking pictures with my group, this session showed me how much I enjoy being at the studio and studying this course it is a career I wished for since I was a little girl. playing dress-up and enjoying taking pictures of each outfit I would choose I always loved photoshoots with my own ios canon camera that I would take everywhere I traveled to take pictures.  Clothing gives an idea of your character and even boosts your confidence if you feel good about what you wear. It is essential how you feel in your clothes because this feeling can make or break an outfit. I love helping others and making them feel good about themselves so helping them to style will help them boost their confidence and speak because how we dress expresses our unique personalities this is why I love personal styling. I was always shy and introverted and never had a strong personality and fashion helped me I felt stronger and more positive when I would style myself.

Update: Materials pattern cutting/sewing/textile techniques using waste materials workshop

Hello, world!

During the past week, I have been searching and coming up with ideas for the sustainable project I am working on. After attending a few different workshops and lectures, I was inspired to use waste materials as my source with various types of fabrics. For instance, I used waste materials such as wires, plastic bags, ribbons, and other similar items during my previous workshop. My group and I have been working toward using blue and green as a color palette throughout the project. Throughout last week’s workshop, I attended, we were instructed to bring an old shirt with us to make a yarn by cutting up the shirt! It was my first time doing it after following the instructions in the workshop, and I was excited when I learned how to do it. It was successful, and I used it to stitch into waste materials. It was a new creative idea that I created throughout the workshop, and I was very satisfied with the output of the yarn that I had made, and it was enjoyable to use that yarn to stitch.

Hello, everyone!

We held our last artefact presentation last week. It eventually came together this past week on Thursday, October 27, after weeks of work, numerous workshops, and lectures on topics like heat press, mending, repair, reconstructing, and deconstruction. We had to demonstrate our work and our project. The artefact project was the very first project that I worked on during my time at uca. During this project, it was exciting to learn new ideas to add, and since I was satisfied with my work and what I had been working on for a few weeks, I felt a bit nervous during the presentation.

During my presentation, I received feedback that my layout was obvious, direct, and easy. Since my artefact was basic, it was also helpful for me to have included various concepts and designs into this project. Next time, I should improve my presentation skills by speaking louder and leaving my comfort zone. I was pleased with the outcome of this project as it related to nostalgia, and it is a wonderful first project, to begin with, and it is special to be nostalgic about old core memories. What I would do differently the next time is present my work with more confidence and talk louder. This was an awesome project that I have worked on,  I gained new skills through involvement in workshops. I now know how to use a heat press to print on various materials.  Additionally, I have learnt several techniques for repairing items and how to use them rather than wasting them. I’d like to share to you about my eap session that I had today. Daniel Webb is the author of an article that we read that was titled “Everyday Plastic-Mural by the sea,” and the topic of the article was “Everyday Plastic.” Daniel’s interest in conservation and an understanding of the wasteful use humans make of plastic is startling considering that he was not an artist. However, he collected plastic waste because he was interested in the environment. Daniel is making an effort and collecting bits of plastic—nearly 4500 plastic waste—and has separated the many types of plastic things that he has collected into categories as part of his plan to spread awareness. People use a lot of plastic because it is more practical, but we should attempt to use less plastic overall. We should be reminded that we must cut down on the amount of trash plastic we produce as much as we possibly can. So this was overall about today’s session I will catch up with you all later byeee.

The good old days

Hi friends 🙂 Let’s first start by explaining nostalgia! So what is nostalgia? Feeling from the past is a desire for one-time memories when things seemed better, simpler, and more enjoyable.

Naturally, I’m feeling very nostalgic lately. Living in a new city for the first time and moving from home is quite challenging. The feeling of growing up and having more responsibilities, unlike my childhood, started making me reminisce about my life back then, unlocking deep childhood memories inside my head. I have discovered recently that the feeling of nostalgia can positively impact a person. For instance, it reduces my stress and boosts my self-esteem whenever I feel nostalgic. Songs like ‘Happy and You Know’ used to sing this in field trips on the bus; this is a core memory that I will never forget; it makes me feel how simple life back then was, as well as childhood toys. I used to have a favorite doll I would dress up and feed, and I carried it everywhere I went. Also, Tv shows on cartoon network channel I grew up with brothers, and we loved watching Ben 10 every morning before school. I also loved watching Dora, also gaming. I had a Wii game as well as a Nintendo 3DS my favorite childhood game; I played Mario kart, bowling on Wii sports, and crash bandicoot. Those games always give me nostalgia back then. All those items I started remembering make me feel what a great time that was, how time passed by fast, and when life was simple.

NOSTALGIA 🙂

In today’s session, I learned some reading strategies to enhance my English, such as reading more books, expanding my vocabulary, and communicating with others in English to improve my language skills. We read an article about nostalgia, which made me have brief flashbacks of my youth’s TV shows, foods, and toys, which was an excellent feeling to reminisce. This lesson was enjoyable as it made me remember a song from my past and took me back to that time. This song had such a significant impact on me that it brought back happy memories of my childhood. I also got a flashback to the TV shows I watched with my siblings as a child; it is a cherished memory for me.
